Photography Myths

A nice post by Ron Longwell on myths and realities about being a professional photographer. I certainly don’t agree with everything, myth #9 about Photoshop for instance, but it’s a good list for sure. Enjoy – http://rising.blackstar.com/10-myths-about-being-a-professional-photographer.html

Celebrating 45, for the next 45 weeks

It has been said once before that I can be a curmudgeon when it comes to my birthday.  Well, ok – quite a few people have said that over the years.  Well, not this year.  To mark my 45th birthday I have decided to celebrate it.  But rather than just have a ‘standard party’ I’ve

No better way to tell a story than photographs

If ever one wanted to tell a story with no words, this has to be one of the best I have ever seen.  I came across this story of Taylor Morris and his story is so moving. I’m sure everyone has heard that a photograph is worth a 1000 words, then this proves it.  The

US Coast Guard – Response Boat

Last week was Seafair in Seattle.   For us locals it always seems to be a love/hate relationship with all the crowds of people, the fleet in town, the Blue Angels and various other planes bouncing around the skies.  In general I’m in the ‘love’ camp, although I could do without some of the idiot tourists!!

Seattle Great Wheel

While we were waiting I turned the lens to capture a few shots of Seattle latest attraction, the Seattle Great Wheel. This one was my favorite and I loved the tight crop of the 175 foot structure with the construction crane in the background.  I’m liking the harsh light glistening off of the white surface.

Beautiful moon over the city of Seattle

I was working on the deck last night, planting some seeds for a fall harvest and as the dusk came about the moon came into view.   Had to grab a camera and experiment with some shots with the city in the background.   I haven’t shot the moon for a while so it was fun to

How to make a milk bath for photography shoots

So last week we had a client in our boudoir studio that wanted to have some photographs done with her in a bath of milk.   We have never done this before, but seeing as we have a large bathtub in our photography studio here in Seattle, it didn’t feel like we should use real milk
